Boutique apartment living

2015

Location: Indooroopilly, Queensland

Railway Avenue Apartments provides a boutique residential experience on a prime inner city site with great access to public transport and the amenity of nearby retail shops, cafes & services. With a desire to create an apartment building that felt like a home, an emphasis on providing good access to daylight, natural ventilation and views, and ensuring privacy through planning, both internally and between apartments, yet provided opportunities for social interaction when so desired, were key drivers in arriving at the final design.

Further to creating this sense of "home", the selection of a material palette that was distinct from many commercial developments, yet considerate of the surrounding context was important. The decision to use a combination of rendered walls with textured brickwork and turned brick detailing was made to give the building a distinctive look and warmth, while also tying in with the materiality of its context.
