An urban design study for mixed use premises within the Seaside City development.
Located within a recent subdivision south of Cudgen Creek in Kingscliff, NSW this project involved the submission of a proposal for a mixed use precinct which combined residential premises with retail and commercial frontages.
Aspect considered that activities at ground level were key to maintaining community use and so intended for the "townsquare" to stretch from the beachfront park area right through to the eastern end of Ocean Avenue. It was also suggested that this area be thought of as a whole in terms of landscaping, surface, treatment and surrounding buildings.
A series of laneways were key drivers in the planning scheme of this proposal in order to create a secondary level of human scale between sites. New East/West laneways provide pedestrian and vehicle access, while East/East laneways also allow access to Northern sun. Treated with permeable surfaces these could further create areas of additional landscaping.
