New Energy Rating level required by law in QLD

New Energy Rating level required by law in QLD

2010-07-26 03:01:52

From May 1st 2010, the Queensland Government is requiring all new house and townhouse projects meet a minimum 6 star energy rating level. How does this affect your project?

If you believe the government literature on this new law, the cost increase on a project should only be around 1.25% depending on location and a few other factors. That means if you are budgeting $500,000 for your build - add an extra $6,250 for a million dollar construction budget add $12,500.

Whether this actually pans out to be the real figures is yet to be seen, but if you would like to read more on this you can download this document, or visit the official government website article.

For the more detailed oriented among you, this guide - although supplied by the Government as a "not-quite-as-up-to-date-as-the-new-law" is also interesting reading.
