Henderson House

Additions and alterations to an existing 1950's stucco home in the suburbs of Brisbane for a family of five.

Built on a 1200 sqm double block, both the design of a functional home and the retention of the backyard was of utmost importance to our client for this project. In response Aspect sought to blur the threshold between internal and external space while also taking advantage of panoramic views to the Brisbane skyline.

The existing home lacked a sense of orientation as individual rooms were a series of small spaces, unconnected from one other. Subsequent alterations made to the dwelling established a central living space that link existing areas and connect the 'heart' of the house to the backyard.

A slim two story form ensures that the majority of existing external space is maintained while also orientating the house in relation to its greater context and providing a vantage point for the spectacular city views.
