Connecting to the back yard.
Located north west of Brisbane, the Barwood house involved an interior renovation and a partial rear and under-house extension. The key aim of the project was to create a much better connection to the rear yard, and that the yard be useable for a young growing family
To this end, opening up the rear of the house with three large timber sliding and stacking doors allowed the new open plan kitchen and dining area to flow seamlessly out into an undercover entertaining area and a landscaped zone for playing.
The undercroft area of the house was also filled in to create a self contained guest or home office space that sets up the opportunity for upstairs/ downstairs living. Aesthetically, the entry to the house was enhanced by a new contemporary stair structure.
